Here’s a quick how-to on changing your domain’s nameservers to point to your new hosting account, if your domains are registered at GoDaddy.
Step 1: Sign into your GoDaddy account. Hover over Products on the main menu, then click the Manage button at the lower right of the window (BTW, you can click on each image to see a larger version):
Step 2: On the next screen, tick the checkbox for the domain you want to modify. You’ll see a ‘Nameservers’ button fade into view above the list. Hover over that button, a small box will slide open. Click the ‘Set Nameservers’ link:
The Nameservers dialogue box will open. Check the Custom radio button, a small box will slide open with a link. Click the ‘Enter custom nameservers’ link:
Another box will appear with two text entry fields. Enter the nameserver values that you received in your hosting account’s welcome email:
Click the OK button to exit from this window, then continue clicking OK buttons until you’re back to the main domain list.
All done! Changes usually happen within an hour, but sometimes can take as long as 24-48 hours (I’ve never had them take that long, but you never know).
